New Super Heavy for the Heresy

$
0
0

A new Super Heavy could be coming to the Heresy!
And it is all revealed on page 289 of Conquest, where we see the rules for the new Stormhammer!

According to the 40k Wiki:

The Stormhammer is a super-heavy tank of the Imperial Guard and is the rarest variant of the Baneblade super-heavy tank. The Stormhammer is one of the most powerful tanks ever deployed by the Imperium in terms of its pure firepower on the battlefield, and it is believed to be the most heavily armed tank currently used by the Imperium of Man‘s armed forces during the 41st Millennium. As a result, the Stormhammer is the rarest of the Baneblade tank variants in use by the Imperial Guard, or any other Imperial faction.

Thanks to Forge the Narrative and Spikey Bits for this info.

40K Blood Angel Codex Rules

$
0
0

New rules for the Blood Angels are leaking out.

While we focus on 30K, many of us play both.  Especially when your army can be used in either game.

So here is a Blood Angels rules compilation from all over.

Detachment:

Mandatory: 1 HQ, 1 Elite, 2 Troops
Optional: As usual, but 3 additioanl Elite (Total 4)
Special rule: +1I when charging, all the army, any turn.

No FoC unlocking in the codex. Not even the command squad, which is Elite now.

Unit Tweaks

All units have now Furious Charge
Only troop choices are Tactical squads and scouts.
No new units. No Centurions and no talons.

Predator Baal is Heavy Support

Bike units can take grav guns. Bike command squads do not exist.

No special Terminator units

Tyco now does not ingore armour saves. His comb¡ weapon cannot use special ammo anymore.
1 Heavy Flamer for tactical squads, 2 for veterans and no Heavy Flamers in Devastators
Banner allows to reroll failed moral and pinning tests. 12" bubble

Honor Guard is gone from the codex.

Tactical marines as usual + new options. They can get anti-air missiles BTW. And no more LR as dedicated transports for everybody, just for termies.

No squadrons for Dreads. "Standard" dreads are now Elite, Furiosos and DC dreads too. Librarian dreads are HQ.

Predator Baal is Heavy Support

Librarian Dreadnought is HQ

Chalice gives +1WS

Sternguard and Vanguard as per codex SM but with FC.

Vanguard Veterans cannot charge after Deep Strike.
Only rule is combat squads

HQ

Dante and Gabriel Seth are LoW.

Dante's Axe is +2S, AP2, mastercraft and NOT unwieldy, and he's Eternal Warrior

Gabriel Seth is a LoW. Basically the same, but lost his special attack. Now he causes +1 hit, for any 6 to wound.

Furiosos: Same cost, but the claws now cost +10 points. Getting additional attacks rule is gone. Now claws are Sx2, Shred, AP2.

The +1 initiative works always on charge. The Detachment is very nice. As I said before, the I bonus is for the whole army and works every turn.

No Reclusiarchs

Priests only in HQ now, so no lesser version in elites, Priests bolster only for his unit,

Sanguinor   -  Has the cost of a Stormraven. Isn't IC.

Sanguinor pretty the same but: gets only 4++, re-rolls to hit and wound in challenge.

The rules are basically the same, but he does not improve the stats of a character anymore. This rule is gone.

Sanguinary guard  -  the max unit size is now 10. 33 points per model.

Sanguinary Priests costs about the same as a Wyvern, are HQ, and units they joins get +1WS and FnP. The are IC btw.

Sangujnary Priests can buy a bike, but not a Terminator Armour.

Corbulo  -  Is now HQ.

Corbulo gives to all BA units at 6" +1WS & +1I. Not accumulative with an standard chalice bonus. 120 points, 3 wounds

Mephiston

W3 I5 A4 2+sv
Warlord trait: Adamantium will
Lvl 3 Psyker
Special rules: FC, IC, Fleet, No Fear, Hypnotic Trance: Roll 2D6 if fighting in a challenge: If result is the L of the opponent or more, Mephiston hits on 2+. (Transfixing Gaze?)

Has one unique power: Blessing, he gets S10. He’s an HQ AND Independent Character!

His sword is AP3 he costs about the same as a Heldrake (reduction FTW?)

No Inv for Meph. S and T as a Centurion
Mephiston is HQ and IC

Death Company

Special rules for Death Company: FC, Fearless, Relentless, FnP, Rage. They cannot reroll to wound if chaplain in the unit. Only Astorath gives them this ability.

Death Company is now elite as is DC dreadnought.

No terminator armour for DC. But there are good news, Jump packs are now only +3 points. On the other hand their WS has been downgraded to 4.

Lemartes is HQ and IC that can only join DC units. Uses an Elite slot. But no use FOC when is take for DC.

Warlord Traits

1. Warlord gets Rampage
2. Warlord gets +1 I
3. One Warlord's weapon gets mastercrafted
4. Warlord gets Adamantium Will
5. Warlord gets Descent of the Angels (Dante's trait)
6. Warlord gets 12" fearless bubble

Psychic Powers

Primaris: Blessing. +D3 to A and I to psyker or target character at 12"
1. Malediction. Target unit at 12" takes a Moral test with -2
2. Blessing. Target unit at 18" gets Rage. If they had already that rule, they get +1A instead
3. Blessing. Psyker and his unit get 5++
4. Focussed witch fire. Target makes 2 T tests. Take one W for each failed test. If targed dies, place 5" blast with S4 and AP5.
5. Beam.12" S8, AP1 Lance 6"Blessing. Targe infantry unit, moves 12" in the psychic phase. No charging after this movement.

Fast Vehicles

- Rhinos
- Razorbacks
- Baal Predators

Standard Predators can buy Fast vehicle special rule at 10 points.

Relics:

- One jump pack that allows the bearer and his unit re-roll when DS and when other units Intercept -> Snapshots. (25)
- Gives Fear, and fear tests are done with -2 L (10)
- One item that gives an additional warlord trait strategic table. (15)
- One physic weapon +2S, AP4, bearar may re-roll 1 in the psychic phase. If rellod die is a 1, bearer takes one wound. No saves allowed. (10)
- One Master-crafted plasma pistol, that does not get hot. (25)
- One AP2 power sword. (25)

So basically GW you got rid of Honor Guard and Sanguainary Priests in Terminator Armour.  Two units I spent a TON of time and money on.  Thanks GW.

Blod Angels Codex Arrives!

$

Baal Secundus on facebook posted stats from the new Codex.

Thanks to Baal for this:

Have the new Codex in front of me, and overall, I am quite disappointed but my competitive list won't change too much, and the points are generally better but some strange increases.

HQs:

Captain - 90
Librarian - 65
CaptainTycho - 130 (lost special issue ammunition though)
Tycho the Lost - 145 (DC Tycho)
Librarian Dreadnought - 150 (lvl1)
Mephiston - 175pts... S5T5 W3, finally an IC! but still not able to take wargear like jump pack
Sanguinor - 200pts (better price, should be interesting)
Astorath - 165pts (great reduction! only model that lets Dc reroll to wound as well)
Sanguinary Priest - 60pts... not happy with increase in pts but does give some good bonuses
Corbulo - 120pts!! lost his 2+FNP and went way up in price, dont like it at all
Techmarine - 50pts, never used them
Chaplain - 90pts (instead of Reclusiarch)

TROOP:

Tactical - 70pts
Scouts - 55pts (no more free sniper upgrade)

ELITE:

Command Squad - 100pts (now takes FOC slot )
Death Company - 20pts a model (unit size between 5-15 now, no more 30 squad limit, no more 1 squad limit either)
Lemartes - 130pts of crap
Sanguinary Guard - 165pts for 5, looks very viable now
Dreadnought - 100pts, no longer heavy
DC Dreadnought - 125pts, lower WS no initiative bonus either
Furioso - 125pts, free magna grapple (gives fleet now i think)
Terminator Squad
Terminator Assault Squad - both the same as vanilla
VANGUARD Vets - 95pts for 5, Sgt no longer comes with power weapon in profile, need to buy, Jump packs 3pts, could be a very hard hitting unit
Sternguard - 110pts for 5, still overpriced IMO

FAST:

Rhino - 45pts
Razorback - 65pts (can no longer be taken by Assault marines at -35pts)
Drop Pod - 35pts fast and can be dedicated
Landspeeder - 50pts a model, same as before
Assault Squad - 85pts, nice reduction and can get rhino and drop pod free dedicated, but no razorbacks?
Bike Squad - 63pts down from 90, might want to try out
Attack bike - 45pts, 5 more than before
Scout bike squad - 54pts, could be useful, infiltrate and scout
Stormraven - 200pts LOST BLOODSTRIKE MISSILES, now get Stormstrike Missiles S8 AP2 instead of AP1

HEAVY:

Devastators - 70pts
BAAL PREDATOR - 115pts - wtf is this doing in heavy??
Predator - 75pts (NOT FAST, 10pts to make it fast)
Vindicator - 120pts (NOT FAST, 10pts to make it fast)
Whirlwind - 65pts (NOT FAST, 10pts to make it fast)
Landraider - 250 usual (can be dedicated transport sometimes)
Landraider Crusader - 250pts (can be dedicated transport sometimes)
Landraider Redeemer - 240pts (can be dedicated transport sometimes)

LOW
Dante - 220pts, strike at initiative S+2 AP2 Axe!, I6 but does not have red thirst so does NOT get +1 initiative bonus on charge
Seth - 155pts

FORMATION: Blood Angels Battle Company

1 captain, 1 chaplain, 1 command squad, 6 tactical squads, 2 assault squads, 2 devastators, 1 death company 1 dreadnought 1 furioso dreadnought
- reroll warlord
- objective secured
- red thirst - +1 initiative on charge for assault phase

The Relics of Baal are pretty bad, apart from the AP2 power sword, and the Wings could be useful.

So these are the point values, not sure why the FOC was moved around and why some got increased when they got worse.

Good to see that my competitive list didn't change all tha tmuch, just need to spend 120pts on 2 scout squads with snipers, and I still have points left over from reductions. Really not liking how my book says Assault Marines CANNOT take Razorbacks as dedicated transports, hopefully that is a mistake.

Well, thanks To Baal Secundus for his insight!

Alpha Legion Contemptor Dreadnought

The Contemptor Dreadnoughts of the Legiones Astartes enabled the mortally injured warriors interred within them to continue to serve their Legions during the Great Crusade, and many fought at the forefront of some of the bloodiest and fiercest battles of the Horus Heresy. "Crowned as the new Emperor of Imperium Secundus, Sanguinius of the Blood Angels faces the very real threat of betrayal from within his new realm. As ever, it falls to his Sanguinary Guard to protect the primarch, and Commander Azkaellon must resort to the most dire of measures...

Not only is this story a fascinating glimpse into the mind of the Blood Angels Primarch, it also shines light on the origins of another well known character in the history of the IX Legion..."

New Mechanicum from Forge World

Two new Mechanicum units are out from Forge World.

Both are infantry units to fill out those armies.

Tech-Thrall Covenant with Mitra-locks

Relentless and indefatigable in battle, Tech-thralls will advance into the most ferocious enemy onslaught without fear, an army of the alive-yet-dead puppeted by the magos who command them. Theirs is a fate suffered by those who have failed their Mechanicum overlords in some way, their consciousness and memory overridden and their bodies converted through basic augmetics and cranial surgery, so that they are still considered human, but are no longer capable of independent thought or action.

On the battlefield, Tech-thralls are formed into Covenants, utilising numerical superiority and weight of firepower. Their dull response to injury, capacity for adaptation and relative ease of replacement seeing them used as expendable foot soldiers for the armies of the Machine God. Armed with Mitralocks which release a fan of las-pulses akin to a shotgun blast, the Tech-Thralls firing range is reduced in favour of an increased likelihood of injuring their targets.

This set of Mechanicum Tech-thralls with Mitralocks includes 10 multi-part resin models. They are available to order for immediate dispatch

Tech-Thrall Covenant with Las-locks

Relentless and indefatigable in battle, Tech-thralls will advance into the most ferocious enemy onslaught without fear, an army of the alive-yet-dead puppeted by the magos who command them. From Forge World:

SOLAR AUXILIA FLAMER SECTION

Working in conjunction with Lasrifle Sections, the Solar Auxilia Flamer Section provides close quarters support to their Infantry Tercio. They are also often employed in boarding actions, clearing corridors of ships with ease.

Solar Auxilia Flamer Sections can be deployed as part of an Infantry Tercio in a Solar Auxilia army in Horus Heresy games. Their rules can be found in The Horus Heresy Book Four – Conquest.

This is a complete multi-part resin kit of ten models, including weapon and head options to make a Sergeant.

Imperial Fists get Forge World love!

IMPERIAL FISTS LEGION PHALANX WARDER SQUAD UPGRADE SET

The VIIth Legion's warships are defended from boarding assaults by the Phalanx Warders, warriors selected from amongst the best of the Imperial Fists Breacher squads. Staunch and immovable, they are the last line of defence when attack threatens and the first into the fray when the Legion boards enemy vessels.

Heavily armoured and carrying slab-like boarding shields, Phalanx Warders are trained to fight from behind their shield wall to deadly effect; its armoured protection and the immense firepower at their command proving a deadly match for any foes who dare to assail them.

The Phalanx Warder Squad upgrade set is a 40 piece resin upgrade kit which includes 7 heads, 5 torsos, 5 boarding shields with arms, 5 power axes, 10 shoulder pads, a nuncio-vox backpack, a Legion vexilla and a breaching charge. This set allows you to upgrade a squad of Space Marines to a Phalanx Warder Squad as part of an Imperial Fists Legion army in Horus Heresy games. Their rules can be found in The Horus Heresy Book Three – Extermination and Legiones Astartes – Isstvan Campaign Legions.

Completed models shown in some images built using the Legion Mk IV Despoiler Squad, available separately.

This set is available to pre-order now and will be despatched from Friday 9th January 2015.

IMPERIAL FISTS LEGION TEMPLAR BRETHREN UPGRADE SET

Templar Brethren are the elite of the VIIth Legion. They are guardians of the Temple of Oaths aboard the Imperial Fists' great fortress-ship the Phalanx and the Legion's most highly accomplished warriors. With their superior skill in battle and the finest weapons at their disposal, they are at the spearhead of the Emperor’s Crusade to unify Mankind.

Excelling in close combat, the Templar Brethren wield power swords in battle, whilst their combat shields provide much-needed protection as they fight on the frontline in addition to their ornate artificer armour. Few enemies of Mankind seldom survive the first shattering charge of the Templar Brethren and have little chance of overcoming their defences.

The Templar Brethren Squad upgrade set is a 36 piece resin upgrade kit which includes 6 heads, 5 torsos, 5 combat shields, 5 power swords, 1 Champion’s power sword, 10 shoulder pads, a nuncio-vox backpack, a Legion vexilla, a Solarite power gauntlet and an archaeotech pistol. This set allows you to upgrade a squad of Space Marines to a Templar Brethren Squad as part of an Imperial Fists Legion army in Horus Heresy games. Their rules can be found in The Horus Heresy Book Three – Extermination and Legiones Astartes – Isstvan Campaign Legions.

Completed models shown built using the Legion Mk III Despoiler Squad, available separately
